Frequently Asked Questions - Drink and Food

What can you take? How much does food cost there?

As soon as we find out, we will update this post.

Applications will be open in Feb 2009. Don't have any more info

Just because Carling are not the main sponsors, it doesn't mean that there will be no Carling.

Your question has been answered on this site and the official site.

This summer, Gaymers will be the official cider of both Reading and Leeds festivals.

You’ll be able to enjoy a refreshing pint of ice-cold Gaymers original as well as the newly-launched Gaymers pear cider, whilst you listen to some of the best music performances of the summer.

Gaymers will be the only cider sold in festival bars and will be served on draught and super-chilled.

You are best off contacting Festival Republic themselves. I will try and get more information from them myself. Prices start at around a few thousand I believe for burger vans and such.

[update] All stalls for this year have been filled. Applications are open next year from February. I don’t have the email address yet – but from Feb I will put it up somewhere on the site[/update]

Depends what you want - from £0 upwards really. Just bring a debit/credit card. It's easier.

We are not sure. Prices will remain pretty close to last year: http://www.strictlyreading.co.uk/faq/drink-and-food/how-much-are-drinks-...

You sure can. You can take how much you can carry. Only restrictions are that none of those large BBQ grills are allowed but the disposable ones are. Also no glass bottles. Obviously this can be easily hidden away but them are the rules. Bear in mind you have to carry it so make sure you can deal with it.

Inside the fesitval they're not cheap generally and they are a standardised price across all stalls so don't be under the impression that lots of stalls means competitive prices.

If memory serves me well burgers were around £3.50, a pint of Carling was about £3.30 or so and 500ml bottles of coke, sprite, water etc. were £2.00, so if you're planning on 'dining out' in the festival bring plenty of money. You can take empty bottles up to 500ml into the arena and fill up at the taps for free and there are fresh water taps in the camp sites too.
