Ever wondered what happens to all the tents and camping items that are left behind at the Reading Festival? They don't get dumped in the landfill, they are re-used by charities and community organisations as part of the Give Me Shelter campaign.
Each year tens of thousands of tents and other camping items are discarded by festival goers across the country.

How was the festival for you? Razorshite worthy of headlining? RHCP failed? NIN ruled? Mean Fiddler/Festival Republic fucked up ... again?

From the mouth of the main man.... not that the announcement is late or anything....
"It has been a very difficult month. When we got on site on July 25th, Green Camps ABC and D were waist high in water from the floods, yellow camp FGH and I were over 3’ deep in water, all of brown was over my knees, purple I couldn’t get to and White was just part of the river. We have recovered to a large extent but not fully and a fair amount of the site is still not campable today.
Yes that's right - the lazy dickwads have uploaded a map that is actually visible to the naked eye!
http://www.readingfestival.com/info/Reading_map_07.jpg is where you need to go to get it!
Kickstart your festival weekend with a FROG party. The Rivermead sports complex will be transformed into a huge nightclub space with a late bar, flashing lights and arse kicking music.
Don’t miss a moment of the action courtesy of Nokia’s free* mobile festival guide, available at The Carling Weekend: Reading & Leeds Festivals for the first time this year.

Band of the moment, The Enemy, is amongst a sizzling line up that Nokia has brought together for its exclusive artist Q&A Sessions at next month’s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festival (24th – 26th August). Also joining these sessions will be Shiny Toy Guns & Noisettes.

There have been in discussions with Mean Fiddler for the last few weeks regarding the Fan Forums.
The turn out was pretty poor and we gathered as many reasons for this as possible, feeding back to Mean Fiddler with suggestions on how the Fan Forums could be improved, to benefit the Carling Weekend Community more positively and beneficially.

Reading Festival will definitely go ahead, according to the man organising it.
With just five weeks to go, Mean Fiddler's Melvin Benn has given the festival the all clear despite parts of the site still underwater.

Rain rain rain at Reading Festival 2007
Then a bit more rain. It doesn't look good so far but reports are that August should be a scorcher. Whether this will dry up all the rain soaked fields before MF start work on the Reading Festival, we don't know.
A big slice of the festival site is up for sale. A 65-acre area of land that makes up part of the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival site is going up for sale after this year's bash.
The news has sparked fears that the festival may be relocated.
Mean Fiddler, the company that organises the Carling Weekend: Reading Festival, hires the land from its current owners, Caledonia Investments, every year. The company combines the land with another 125-acre site it owns to complete the festival grounds.
"Camping space on site is sufficient for everyone but by bringing gazebos, people are using up double the amount of space they should be - which cramps everyone's style.
This year we are going to have to change things around and so from now on we are restricting gazebos to the following campsites, brown, red and white - but not in green, yellow and purple camping. Anyone setting them up in these areas will have them taken down by campsite staff.
Got it?!"

Let's face it - Dirty Sanchez is one of the funniest things to ever hit our screens. They've been at Reading Festival in the past and this year is going to be bigger and better!
Dance artists revealed - indeed
Now, not exactly the greatest dance addition ever made to Reading Festival but should keep people happy. What do you think?
What do you think - not bad but not exactly bone crushingly amazing either!
The headliners seem weak but everything else seems ok to be getting on with.
THE CARLING STAGE returns to the festival for the 9th year and will again host the best collection of up and coming talent. The Carling Stage has become a stepping-stone for many bands as they make their way to the top. Historically the Carling Stage has seen Muse, Kaiser Chiefs, Ash, Kasabian and many others make their first festival appearances and has continued to prove that this is the starting place for the talent of the future.
Must be my age - not heard anything from a lot of these rumored acts.
NOFX were pretty much confirmed for Reading Festival 2007 and the main reason why people bought tickets this year.
Now they have been replaced by a band that is now going to be playing twice that many people - Jimmy Eat World. Even the Jimmy Eat World fans don't see a reason why they should be playing twice.
A petition has been drafted and I have been asked by dozens to advertise it so here goes: http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/nofxplease Will it do much against the MF machine? Doubtful... but it's worth a go.
When a pop punk band start taking the piss out of The Clash... you know something ain't right.
Jimmy Eat World, The Long Blondes, Little Man Tate, The Pipettes, The Shins, Eagles Of Death Metal, Dead 60s, The Used, Hellogoodbye & Gym Class Heroes will play the Main Stage.
Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, The Enemy, The Horrors, Dinosaur Jr, The Pigeon Detectives, The Young Knives, Nine Black Alps, Good Shoes, Noisettes, Jamie T, Cold War Kids, The Maccabees, The Sunshine Underground, New Young Pony, Hadouken and Late Of The Pier all join the Radio 1/NME stage.
Ahhh shit. Why not just called it the NME Festival?
NME.COM will have latest additions to the line-up at 7.30pm
NME.COM will have an exclusive news from the Carling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festivals online tonight (April 30) from 7.30pm (BST).
Nope - not a diddle from this artist... oh hang on... nope, sorry. Ah yes - the dude from The Strokes.
Not heard much by these lot but word on the street is they they're pretty good live.
Simple one of the best bands to ever play music - I really hope this comes true.
Razorshite, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Smashing Pumpkins are going to headline the Reading Festival this year.
Reading Festival rumours can be found right here. What do you think of the lineup so far - vote here!
In the NME awards of 1st March 2007, Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals won the award for best event. At this point, you thought I’d be jumping up and down and saying “I told you so” but just have a look at the other winners…
Yup - with the help of a few dudes, there is now a Leeds Festival 2007 site.
The site is run by Dazbo - a veteran of the Leeds Festivals! Anyway, the link to the site is as follows: http://www.strictlyleeds.co.uk

At the prestigious CIC music industry awards last week …

As the people themselves say it:

Potential volunteers need to be at least 18 years old, and willing to work three 8-hour shifts - assisting festival campers. Typical duties of a volunteer may include directing festival goers towards other areas of the site, helping festival goers pitch their tents, and reporting back on any problems in the campsites.

Well - sorta!
We have a pair of tickets burning away in our pockets for reading festival 2007 and we just don’t know what do with them. More to the point, we don’t know how to give them away! Therefore we are throwing out the gauntlet to you pretty people.
We need an idea for a competition to give away the tickets for the reading festival next year. The best suggestion(s) will receive a 24 pack of Stella/Grolsch/Guinness or something just as cheap ;-)
Not much going at all with Reading Festival 2007 site I’m afraid but I’ve linked up to the good chaps at http://leedsfest.org/ Although we all know Reading Festival is far better than Leeds Festival we thought this might be a good route to go down i.e. exchanging information we find and also gathering what you send to us in order for us to tell everyone about Reading and Leeds Festival 2007!
Yes - I need to work on my grammar but that’s why I got my loverly editors

The reading competition searched for the biggest festival fans to record their festival experiences at the Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals.
Given a top of the range camcorder (which they got to keep afterwards) to record their reading festival diary. There was no script - the winners recorded everything that reflected their reading festival weekend. The footage was shown on the main stage screens at both Reading and Leeds sites, to crowds of over 100 thousand.
Here are the winning films:
Festival organisers, Mean Fiddler, announced in April that they strongly condemn the sale of tickets for this year’s Carling Weekend: Reading and Leeds Festivals through eBay and other auction sites.
Weekend tickets for this year’s event sold out in record time and, as ever, Mean Fiddler made every effort to ensure that tickets went to genuine festival goers by limiting the amount of tickets available to each address through website sales and to each individual through sales in person at Mean Fiddler venues and HMV outlets.

Supposed to be quite decent from what colleagues and friends are saying but not heard any of their music recently.
Not heard or seen that much but friends love them so will have to check them out
What a class outfit. Brilliant on LP and even better live. A quality addition to reading festival 2007 if it were to happen.
Seen and heard a few things. Although not my cup of tea, seems to know what he's doing!
Not a great fan - seem to be cool and trendy to like them though.
