Personal SafetyCrime ReductionFestivals are full of young, fun loving and like-minded people but beware they are also an easy patch for career criminals and opportunists who know how festival goers tick, and the Reading Festival is sadly no exception and so please read through the advice below and plan ahead for the event. FireworksFireworks are not allowed onsite. Following the Fireworks Act 2003, it is an offence to set off fireworks after 11pm at night. Looking After Number 1
Lost PropertyThe Lost Property postal and email addresses for queries are: Waves, Reading 2008 What You Should Do if You Discover a FireYou must get everyone out of the tent, evacuate the area as quickly as possible and get help from the nearest steward or security who will call the onsite Fire Team. In the campsites you can go to the nearest Fire Tower (situated in the campsites and easily visible). In the unlikely event that you cannot find a member of security or steward nearby then please dial 999. Guidelines for the Safe Use of Camping GasGas canister and aerosol exchanges points will be set up in the campsites at your zone managers caravan. When you hand them in, you have a chance to win the mother of all Festival competitions! If you must bring gas to the festival please follow the guidelines below: Fire SafetySmall clean, campfires only are allowed in the campsites - below knee height and less than one pace wide. They will be monitored and extinguished if otherwise. Gas Cannisters and AerosolsBetween us we have made massive progress in capturing any unwanted gas canisters and aerosols from the camspites during and after the show and last year we have had about 3,000 handed in by you, which is fantastic. When the canisters are handed in to the campsite zone managers caravan they in return then give back a raffle ticket which also means that every day some very lucky people win tickets to Reading and Glastonbury 2008 as a result of winning the raffle. Winners names are announced from the main stage each night. Crowd SurfingEver had someone's boot in your face while trying to watch your favourite band? Not much fun is it? Please don't crowd surf at this year's festival Not only could you hurt yourself but you may injure someone else and ruin their weekend too.You will be ejected from the festival if you're found to be persistently crowd surfing. Fence LineYou will also notice that FR have upgraded the perimeter fence line around the site for security reasons. |
